چکیده

IN RECENT YEARS the morphological features of the major portions of the atrioventricular (A-V) conduction system of human hearts that were afflicted with various congenital anomalies have been described.1-6 These reports have contrasted the anatomy of the A-V conduction system in examples of ventricular septal defect (VSD) and tetralogy of Fallot with that configuration found in defects of the persistent atrioventricular (A-V) canal type.7 8 The vectorcardiographic (VCG) pattern found in the A-V canal has been considered to be characteristic.9-12 It is now known, however, that various congenital heart defects have a similar vectorcardiographic pattern, including occasional examples of VSD and tetralogy of Fallot.13-l5 Therefore, a study was made of the morphology of the A-V conduction system in instances of VSD and tetralogy of Fallot that had frontal plane VCG patterns similar to those usually found in the A-V canal. An effort was made to find a characteristic or characteristics of the anatomy of the conduction system that might be associated with the unusual VCG pattern observed in these examples.

The electrocardiogram, vectorcardiogram, and ventricular gradient in the tetralogy of Fallot.

THERE HAS BEEN inereasinog interest in the physiologic rather than the anatomic disturbances in tetralogy of Fallot." 2 Accordingly, the degree of pulmonary stenosis and the size of the ventricular septal defect are the factors of physiologic importance in this congenital anomaly. The dextroposition of the aorta is functional due to the high ventricular septal defect, and the right ventricular ...

بررسی عملکرد بطن‌ها با اکوکاردیوگرافی در نارسایی دریچه ریوی پس از جراحی تترالوژی فالوت

Background: Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. The systolic and diastolic function in both ventricles is altered even after successful corrective surgery for this defect with a transannular patch. Pulmonary regurgitation, a common complication after this treatment, is usually well tolerated in childhood. The aim of this study was to assess the combined dia...

Main indications and long-term outcomes of reoperation after initial repair of tetralogy of Fallot

Background and Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze our indications, surgical procedures, and clinical outcomes of patients undergoing reoperation after surgical correction of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Methods: Thirty seven consecutive patients who underwent reoperation late after intra-cardiac repair of TOF within a period of 10 years were assessed. Results: The most co...

Total Correction of Tetralogy of Fallot

THE electrocardiogram in patients with tetralogy of Fallot usually shows right axis deviation and right ventricular hypertrophy. After creation of a systemic-pulmonary artery anastomosis, the work of the left ventricle increases, usually accompanied by a corresponding increase in the pattern of left ventricular loading." 2 Following openheart surgery, with closure of the ventricular septal defe...
